Inf
Welcome
to New Mexico Strongman. This website was built with the intention of helping
the sport of strongman grow in New
Mexico and the Southwest. New Mexico
Strongman is an informal group interested in strength sports, similar
to IFSA Strongman on Versus, and World's Strongest Man on ESPN.
Our amateur contests are santioned through North
American Strongman which is a feeder organization for American
Strongman Corporation.
In these pages you'll
find information about upcoming contests, see pictures and videos
from past contests and training days, read articles on training
for the events and many other things. You can also see where
and when people are training in New Mexico by clicking
on the "Join the Training Days" link to the left.

Clay
- you have brought a great deal to the New Mexico sport of strongman.
Your NM brothers in stone & steel wish luck to you and your
future in California.
Fall 2007 - WE
NEED YOU! - An open letter from Clay Edgin
September 3, 2007- The
2nd annual Battle of the Border (BOB) was a great success. There
were more competitors from Albuquerque, than anyplace else. Thank
You for coming out Chan, having you there let the competition span
states... where is Colorado?

June 12, 2007 - The
third annual High Desert Challenge was another great success, and
the money raised for PB & J Family Services should help support
the valuable service they provide to the community. This contest
was also groundbreaking for New Mexico, as it was the first pro-am
contest ever in the Land of Enchantment. Ben Moore from Kansas
won his pro card as a lightweight (under 231lbs) in the amateur
division and new LW pro Scott Porter from Arizona won his first
contest as a professional. Both guys are destined for big things
in the sport and this contest was an important milestone for both.
Check the Past Contests section for more info and the results!
Travis Clary is at it again, bringing another quality contest to
the Four Corners area. The Battle of the Borders II is going
down Saturday, July 28th in San Juan Plaza in Farmington. Check
out the Upcoming Contests page for more info on how you can get
entered or at least go to watch. Travis has already been able
to garner a huge amount of support from the businesses in Farmington
and it's only because of people like him that will help the sport
grow here.
March 10, 2007 - Looks
like the contest season in New Mexico is starting to fill up fast!
Check out the Upcoming Contests link on the left side of the page
to see what the braintrusts have been storming up. There are
contests in May and July already on the map and hopefully the return
of the Iron Will Challenge at the State Fair again too. Events
and weights are on the Upcoming Contests page to the left.
December 10, 2006
- We're in the
process now of laying out the contest schedule for next year.
Right now it looks like we will have the High Desert Challenge III
(a LW pro-am) in May, Battle of the Borders II in August, Iron Will
Challenge III in September, and maybe another novice contest stuck
in there somewhere. As always, we're looking for people interested
in learning about the sport and training. So if you've got
what it takes, email either Warren or Clay on the Contact page to
the left.
December 10, 2006 - The

strongman competitors and learn about how the sport has impacted
their lives.
August 9, 2006 - Quick
update on the Iron Will Challenge 2, set for September 24, 2006
at the New Mexico Fair. We are going to be under the 100'
x 200' Ford Pavilion during the contest, so the unpredictable weather
won't be a factor. We're currently seeking sponsors for the
event. If your business wants to advertise in a unique event
in front of thousands of people for a relatively low price, email
clay@nmstrongman.com.
We're working even harder to find competitors too! If you
think you'd like to give it a try, email Clay for more info as well.
August 5, 2006 -
The Battle of the Borders was
a great show! If you were there, you saw quite a range of
competitors; from those just starting out in the sport trying the
events for the first time to those who are chasing the dream of
becoming a professional. The weather was beautiful, the crowd
was loud, the weights were challenging, and a good time was had
by all. Check out the full
results here in PDF format.
